It was a special new year’s day for a group of players from the Badminton Malta Academy who travelled to Italy to start 2019 with some hard work in a training camp and to participate in a badminton tournament during the weekend.

11 players and 2 coaches left to Malles yesterday afternoon, where they will be participating in a training camp organised by ASV Mals Technical Centre and then leaving to Chiari for a weekend competition, the 7th Torneo ‘Daniela’ Grand Prix, which is part of the Italian Badminton Circuit. The tournament will include different age categories and will be another important international participation experience for all the players.

The group is made up of players from different ages from the Academy and are accompanied by two Academy coaches. This visit to Italy is part of Badminton Malta’s plan to give experience to its young players together with more experienced players to continue preparing itself for the 2020 Badminton Small Nations Games.

Badminton Malta wishes all the contingent a pleasant experience, hard work during the training camp and success during the competition in Chiari.

Badminton Malta would like to thank ASV Mals for their support during the planning phases of the trip, GSA Chiari for hosting us during their tournament, the players, coaches, parents for their continuous commitment to local badminton and SportMalta who will be supporting the event and for its continuous support throughout the year.
