#TeamMalta plays squash and lawn bowls tomorrow
Although unfortunately Maltese badminton will not be featured in this year’s edition of the Commonwealth Games that are being held in Gold Coast – Australia, we are all equally excited to see our colleagues in sport perform and achieve their best results in this year’s edition.
Tomorrow, #TeamMalta will have it’s first involvement in the games starting at 4:30am (Malta Time) with Round of 64 in squash with Colette Sultana, Daniel Zammit-Lewis and Dianne Kellas playing in the Round of 32.
At 8am, Malta will be playing Lawn Bowls both in the Women and Men category where they will be facing England and Australia respectively and later on taking India and Brunei Darussalem. That will end the first day of the Commonwealth Games for the Maltese contingent.
PV Sindhu holds Indian flag during opening ceremony.
Tomorrow we will also see the start of the Badminton Tournament part of the Commonwealth Games. We have four groups with four teams each that will playing to qualify for the final rounds. Games will start at 1am tonight having the first round followed by two other rounds later in the day.
Badminton has already hit the headlines especially in the Indian news reporting PV Sindhu, who led the Indian contingent during the opening ceremony.
We look forward to follow #TeamMalta and also badminton during this year’s games. Goodluck to all!
