With six wins out of six matches and some very close encounters, Paola BC secured the Mixed Teams League – Powered by VICTOR trophy for the fifth consecutive year and the thirteenth time in their club history.

As the scorelines suggest, it was a very close competition with Paola BC winning against their two title challengers, Luxol Badminton and Birkirkara BC Polidano Press Ltd. with an identical 3-2 score. This year’s Mixed Teams League and all players were given a double challenge after the League had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic posing both physical and mental challenges but all players showed determination and continued to perform at their best to offer the best Maltese badminton to all those present during the matches. The competitive rivalry between the local clubs has motivated the players and their coaches to return on the court and try their best to beat their opponents.

Now Badminton Malta starts its preparations for the new season, hoping for the best to offer local Badminton enthusiasts a full calendar of events aimed both to top players as well as casual players with different levels of competitions to participate in.

Mark Abela, one of the key players in Paola BC’s team and a player that is part of the SportMalta Badminton Academy shared with us his satisfaction after helping his team securing this year’s title but is now focused to keep on working hard, together with his club and Academy to continue improving his level to be able to compete in more international tournaments in the future.

Badminton Malta would like to congratulate Paola BC and all competing teams for a well-fought competition and looks forward to another successful season, despite any challenges that might arise.
