Last weekend was a very fruitful one, where Fabio Morino, Technical Consultant for Badminton Malta and Director for Technical Development of Federazione Internazionale Badminton (FIBa) spent a whole 2 days together with players and coaches of Badminton Malta’s National Academy. This weekend was a result of the positive collaboration Badminton Malta started with FIBa to continue strengthening the relationship between the two Associations.

Coach Morino together with the National Academy coaches, prepared two sessions on court and more sessions off court, to get to know more the players and their Badminton ambitions and goals. This will definitely lead the way to more successful player and coach development and fits perfectly in Badminton Malta’s plan, which is being done through a strong collaboration with SportMalta, with the aim of raising the bar both in level of play and participation. By creating a holistic plan, starting from grassroots, attracting young children to start playing badminton, to continuous development, to international participation, long term results will be reached.

This will all be possible thanks to a lot of input from a lot of people. The players, technical consultant, coaches, club coaches, clubs, parents, administrators, SportMalta, FIBa, Maltese Olympic Committee and many other entities and individuals who always strive to help every sport move forward.

Badminton Malta will now continue its focus on the player development programme but at the same time giving importance to the local competitions which will start with the Doubles Ranking Tournament and concluding the details of the Amateur League and the Mixed Teams League. It will surely be a very busy new season for all local Badders: a season to look forward to. Working together will make it more successful for everyone.
